It's been a fucking long time.
Yeah. I haven't updated this space for a long time. So, I'm going to throw together a bunch of miscellaneous updates.
A fair while back, I finally got tired of writing empty token thank-you letters, so I wrote a letter to my grandmother (not the one I generally visit, the one living all the way down in Florida) with a bit more actual depth. I told her about my current situation of being on welfare and a few such general details. She wrote back with a fairly sympathetic letter, talking about how she's on Social Security herself, the medical costs she has to deal with, and various recent events in her life.
Now I feel like I know my grandmother a little better. Doing this really helped me understand that she's actually someone who has things to say... I plan to write back to her again, and to do more than just thank her for the Christmas money.
My Christmas was decent. Opened my Christmas presents on Christmas Eve, pulled an all-nighter watching the entire Revolutionary Fencer Utena series that I finally finished downloading that very day. The next day, I slept in my family's min-van on our way to the grandmother who lives in New York. Met my grandmother and cousin, sleep some more, then went to dinner at another cousin's house, had another dinner the next day, came back home. I got to see and hug family I haven't met in a while, but none of them really know sign language so that was all I did.
I think I'll do a separate entry for commentary on all the things I've been watching and reading recently.
