Update on the "cute little Kaja-monster" (Catie's words, hee!)

So, I'm here! Was quite an interesting trip, took longer than I expected.

First off, I ended up late for the buses I was going to take, but I just decided, "The hell with it," and rather than go home, I just relaxed around on some grass, got some things to eat and some stuff for the trip, daydreamed a bit, got sprayed by automatic sprinklers and made a rapid exit to the oppoosite side of the road, daydreamed a bit more, and then got up and went. I suspect if I'd done that in the first place instead of stressing out about missing the exact buses I was going to take, I would've been already here a few days ago.

I then got updated times from the staff members, exact gate numbers, and made my way on the extremely long trip. I didn't know how long it would actually turn out to be. See, there was the usual periods of long-ass sitting on my butt (which always makes said butt hurt, heh). I liked riding in the daylight as it mainly meant that I could read Perdido Street Station and such on the way. The reading of said book is proceeding slowly, more slowly than the first time I think, mainly because I'm luxurizing more in the details. It's a very detail-rich book, and even as I read it, I feel like I'm learning some things about writing details, something I tend to have trouble with.

So. I get to Hartford largely without incident, and it's all closed at. I don't have tickets to Boston bought because I was planning to buy them there. But things turned out okay! I did more reading, putzed around on my mobile phone (I finally got the IMing and some other networky things to work again!), and did my best to sleep on an extremely hard bench (I nominate it for the World's Hardest Bench contest. It might not win, but it certainly will put up a good fight!). Six hours of that before the ticket office opened at 6 am, a ticket purchase, then two more hours. Got to recharge my cell phone in a back hallway and no one seemed to care about my doing it.

Then I got to Boston! Catie and I both promptly collapsed into bed after picking me up--me from an exhausting trip and her from a little bit of food poisoning. Now we've had a nice rest and are ready to go on with our day!

Foods eaten on this trip: dried fruits, some junk food, two chicken sandwiches, a hot dog, mixed nuts, saluteed veggies and red potates and garlic bread, frozen fruit treats. I ate a lot more than I expected, especially meat mainly because I hadn't treated myself to it in a long time. o.o

Anyway, that's it. I'm here, I'm okay, and it wasn't in any way a traumatic experience. :)

Glad you're in, glad the bus wait wasn't too bad -- we were worried! Have Catie give you my cell number, it's the same one I've always had and she should have it, but I have no clue where my note about it is hidden or how to check it myself. :) When the Work Shift That Never Ends finally ends, I'll go home and get my cell. :) I might be real out of it tomorrow, but I'll meet up with y'all for dinner or whatever on... Monday? How long are you staying, hon? Let us know and don't forget to CC postrodent@gmail.com when you send meet-up info! (Peg's feeling a little wonky, herself, and may have to sit out...)

Obviously drop me a line as well if you like. These days I actually have Normal Work Hours, but as long as you notify me during Normal Work Hours that you want me to stay in town, I can do so... otherwise it gets to be a somewhat annoying trip to the burbs.

Also, I have ^^ cell as well.

Also, I think I play well with others, although you may have to ask the others.

(Part of me of course now wants to get reeeeeeal mischievous about what numbers are your right numbers and which ones you'd never 6e a part of.)

There are NO multiples of 3 in my cell number, I made sure of that. ;)

So you remember what you need to remember, and forget the 6 that I see in my contact list. Good kitty.

Oh! What are Normal Work Hours for you, then? Uh. What arrangements would you like to make?

Hi Kaja,

The omipotent Catie suggested I drop you a line. I'm Janna, a 27-y.o. transgirl from way the hell up in Vermont. I'm sure Catie could fill you in on more of the details. I hope you'll friend me :-) *hugs*

Normal work hours are generally 8 to 4:30. (I was kinda referring to the bland 8-5 work schedule I almost have.) As for arrangements, that's kinda up to you and your schedule. I'd be happy to meet you for dinner whenever you like - today I'm going to be back in Winthrop until 5:30 but can meet after that. The rest of the week - basically all I do on weekdays is commute back and forth from home to Cambridge, I have no plans. Weekends I tend to have even less plans. ;)

You'll never grow tits without meat to grow big and strong on! ;)

I have "tits", I just need to begin wearing shirts that aren't enormously oversized and baggy.

Silly meat-centered boy. =p

Sorry to bother...

I should ask, did you want to meet? And if so, did you have any idea when? i'm pretty much available whenever, just any advance warning helps. ;)

Oh, sure! Sorry I haven't responded, just been very busy. o.o I'll check out how things work out in terms of times and dates. Right now, got nothing scheduled really except for a 'rest day' for today and Indian with Catie tomorrow. Hmm! Friday or Saturday, maybe? And I'll check to see who else wanted to work in meetings with me.

ACK! Wrong LJ! Catie was already signed in. It's actually me, Kaja.

No worries - Friday and Saturday should be fine, given a small bit of advance notice. I have no problem working around/with other peoples' schedules as well.

Okay! Know any good cheap local places? Dining out starts to get expensive when you're doing it with a lot of people. Or if you had any other ideas for something to do... I'm asking you because you're the local one, though I seem to recall something about you having moved in recently.

Friended back! Hiyas, Janna, looking forward to getting to know you some.

I've only been back about 4 months. I know that there aren't any good restaurants near where I live, although there's a cheapish one down the street. But this is roughly nowhere.

The only place I can think of off the top of my head is Mary's the Chinese place at Central. [livejournal.com profile] circuit_four and [livejournal.com profile] postrodent are much more likely to know than I.

I don't have a lot of ideas for things to do at this point. There's the parks, MIT in general... used to be a cheap place for food at MIT in the old days, but it closed last year, I hear...

I don't know.

Sorry things didn't work out. It was a combination of extreme busyness, exhaustion from said busyness, and general social exhaustion. Next time I'm in Boston, I'll try to make you first priority.
