Milk makes me sick.

Some months ago, I had dropped milk from my diet. I was gradually seeing a correlation between the amount of milk I drank and the amount of flatulence and general sickness-feeling I was feeling. I switched to water instead. Today, my sister, while making dinner, forgot that I don't drink milk and while setting the table filled the glass with milk. I don't like to waste food so I drank it.

I felt worse than I ever did after drinking milk, several times worse. Like, just going in and sitting in the bathroom bad. I suspect I had lost what acclimation I had to whatever in the milk does this to me. Ugh. Never again am I drinking milk. If anyone ever sets a glass of the stuff before me again, I'm simply pouring it down the sink. Nevermind the waste of food it would be. Not worth getting sickish again, even if it was only for an half hour or hour or so (I feel somewhat better now).

Lactose intolernce woo!

To drink milk and such again, you'll have to rebuild up a tolerance. Which is, from what I have gleaned, UNFUN.

*totally fine with milk.*

I have the exact same problem, except I actually get so physically ill that I'll often vomit. (Overshare? Sorry, if so.) I went to to the doctor to find out exactly what it was, a few years ago, and they said it was severe lactose intolerance. There are a lot of supplements out there that help, though, if you want to eat cheese crackers or something else with a small amount of dairy in it.

Milk and "real" ice cream are totally out, though. :[

You and Rik with your wasting food thing! ;p I used to be really, really lactose intolerant, too. Mine has gotten better, but the idea of drinking a whole glass of milk sounds weird and kinda gross to me. I don't mind it as an ingredient, but it tastes bizarre by itself now.

For some reason I can eat some cheese or ice cream or such without it being particularly bad. Not sure if it's actually lactose intolerance for that reason. But milk itself seem to have something in it that I don't like.

Yeah. Some foods just aren't healthy to not waste. It's just an ingrained habit of mine, not wanting to waste food. And this incident has really made me rethink that habit.

Try this?

Look for reduced lactose milk such as lactaid, or try soy-based milk substitutes such as Silk.

Good luck! Being pooty all day is only funny the first hour ;)

yea...

you could actually just pour it back in the milk container if you're not going to drink it.

I have milk with cereal; that's about it. If I want a glass of something, it's water, juice, or soda. *nod*
