Eco-hype. Go figure.
You know... I kinda get the impression there're more people making a fuss about bioengineered foods, which might cause harm, than making a fuss about already in use agricultural procedures that already are highly proven to do horrendous amounts of environmental damage. Stuff that's actually created dead zones in the ocean where nothing lives, and is still creating them.

Have you seen wild wheat next to the domesticated stuff? :o
It's just that the bioengineered ones come out a wee bit faster.

You would think that more energy would be focused on modern farm practices, which pump out tons of antibiotics, fertilizer, pesticides, and fecal matter into watersheds, never mind how inhumanely the animals are treated.
I think that GMO foods are both cause for concern and cause for celebration, I want them to be critically and objectively studied. The anti-GMO movement is full of buzzwords and "celebrity" cachet -- in a way I think it mirrors the Bush administration's hype about hydrogen power etc., when raising corporate fuel economy would be about a zillion times more effective in lessening US dependence on oil.
