The most interesting day I've had in a long time. Wow.
Was depressed yesterday. Went out for a walk to jolt myself out of my own stagnation. Hell, did it work. I went and walked a decent way to some dollar store, treated myself to hair bands, lipsticks, and nail polish (so far, the purple glitter one SUCKS, but the blue's nice, and the blue lipstick was enormously ineffectual, like rubbing a crayon onto one own lipstick, haven't tried the red lipstick yet).
Then I wandered around, spoiled myself with some Pad Thai at the Vietnamese place nearby (that particular part of town seemed to have a heavy Asian presence, the strip-mall had a lot of Asian-oriented stores, restaurants, groceries, Korean/Vietnamese/etc videos, the like). But that wasn't enough wandering for me, and I was feeling in a rather crazy mood.
So I began walking directly toward some towering chimney thing I saw in the distance, with vague thoughts of trying climbing the ladder on it up to that gangway around it just to see what it's like from all that height. A river that I hadn't seen through all those trees and undergrowth foiled me. So, I turned aside and wandered, off into a beaten down section I noticed leading into the undergrowth behind some auto-part store thing.
It took me to a place that certainly looked a hell of a lot like someone's squat. Basically, under the back 'porch' of some building with a boarded up rear, a mattress lying on the floor. Barrels. And actual fricking shopping carts, stuffed with some trash or something. Graffiti, as well, some of it reading (but only barely) as "Latin Locos".
And I moved on. Began a walk home, and as I passed the local firehouse, I saw some fireman walking out with a hose. So I just had to stop there and watch him hook up the hose to one of those water output things whose names I forgot completely and utterly, and he filled up his truck. And them some others walked out to wind other hoses into some hitch thing in the front, and stuff like that. Was interesting to watch.
Then I moved on, and I found... a tiny little plushie abandoned on the middle of a road. Pretty much intact, with only a very *slightly* flattened head and a little smudge there. Rather cute and adorable, and I really liked it. So I picked it up and took it home with me.
When I got home, I felt so reinvigorated that I finally did the raking up of the leaves and branches from the bushes that I'd trimmed yesterday. I had been putting off this particular chore, and my mom had been unhappy with me, and then I got into a sulk, and ended up going out on the walk and feeling better. I think I really need more activity to energize me...
I'm a creature of sensations, I need stimuli, holing up in the house, in my room, hasn't been good for me.
I think I'll try going out on walks more often, perhaps even every day.

Wish I lived out in the boonies instead of West L.A. =P Nah, even L.A.'s fine, just that the lack of private space does my head in...
