People as static expressions of past present future

It's really disquieting to see the apparent lack of insight into the future or the past many people have. They don't realize how past events are very similiar to the events they're participating in, and how future common perspectives of their current positions will likely turn out similiar to current common perspectives of similar previous positions. I'm not even going to specify, this really applies to so many things happening in today's world, and given how closely historical tendencies are still being followed, will likely still be topical for centuries in the unlikely event that this post lingers that long. Think of certain minorities that are the centers of controversies or are being particularly targetted because of incidental ethical connections to certain enemies and such.

Gods, people just don't seem to have enough perspective to break out of those patterns.

You took the words right of my mouth. Not only do we keep repeating the same patterns of ostracism and prejudice as a society, it seems that no sooner does a formerly oppressed group enter the mainstream, that it's handed a truncheon and sicced on the next easily stigmatized minority...
