Illusion of moral relativism

Many people mistake people who think there are many right ways for people who think there are no wrong ways.

Yes!

I read a cartoon one time in which this one character is a (gaspshudder) liberal, and thus he proclaims, "There's no such thing as right and wrong." So this other character comes up and says, "Great! That means I can hit you on the head with this baseball bat." I think Ralph Hayes drew it.

Kinda like Your Favorite Solipsist (me!) having to explain to people that just because I consider reality to be defined by perception, does not mean I am free to ax-murder people. Same for slipping the surly bonds of two-party morality... The phrase, "beyond good and evil," is not a license for chaos. Then again, when confronted with ideas that take more than a sound-bite to explain, most people react negatively, no matter what the idea.
