Skills & Stunts setup plus second log
Note for
lediva:
Skills are ranked by descriptors. The ladder is as such:
Mythic
Epic
Fantastic
Superb
Great
Good
Fair
Average
Mediocre
Poor
Terrible
We decided to have the characters' top skill be Great. So, everyone has a Great skill, then two Good skills, then three Fair skills, then four Average skills (Average serves as the base of the "skill pyramid").
Average is actually a decently useful rank to have skills at, as it's the baseline difficulty for many things. Higher skill ranks're useful for tasks with added complications as well as tasks where you'll be directly opposing other people. But Aspects and some Stunts can be used to augment your skills.
As for Stunts, we discuss that down in the log beneath.
[OOC] Yukina says, "Whoo!"
[OOC] Petra waves.
[OOC] Yukina does the chair boogie.
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay, there was going to be a third person, right?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "They couldn't make it."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "So we'll go ahead and do skills."
[OOC] Petra says, "Ah, okay."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "This time I'm going with more open-ended, but the skills in SOTC are about how broad you can go."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "And that's decently broad."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Right, then."
[OOC] Petra says, "It's a Great pyramid, right?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I decided to go Superb."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "If that's okay with you."
[OOC] Petra says, "Ooh. Well, I won't complain about more skills."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Mind you, adults will tend to rank higher. We're talking Superb relative to teenagers."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Right."
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm a bit uncertain about, well, finding enough skills. But I'm game for doing it with the Superb pyramid if that's what you think is appropriate."
[OOC] Yukina can swing either way, really.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "If you'd rather, we can start with a Great pyramid, actually."
[OOC] Petra says, "Why don't we try a Great one to start with, and see if our preferences will fit into one? If that's all right with the two of you."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Works for me."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Yeah, it's easier to bump up the pyramid than bump it down."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "If need be."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Resources will be a viable skill, as will be Popularity or Social Network or something alike representing how well tied you are in."
[OOC] Petra says, "Would 'Allowance' be appropriate for Resources or should I make it a bit broader?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Allowance works."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Well, I'm going to start with "Horsemanship" of course."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "As for fighting skills, I'd tend to lean toward Style skills. For example, if you've got training that uses both specific weapons and unarmed maneuvers, I'd allow that as a single skill. And, Horsemanship, definitely. ^.^"
[OOC] Petra says, "How is 'Inspiration' for a skill? Specifically, I'm thinking lashes of inspiration which would allow her to do well at something she hasn't trained in (like combat, it doesn't really fit her background for her to have trained)."
[OOC] Petra says, "Er, flashes of inspiration. Definitely flashes."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Hm. Combat... Yukina's probably never been trained, but has probably taught herself. So "Improvisational Weaponry" or similar and "Bigger And Stronger" might work."
[OOC] Petra says, "Maybe a little more focused... 'Inspired fighter?' Specifically, I'm thinking of this working when I use that Stunt we'd discussed to let her have freedom of movement temporarily."
[OOC] Yukina is a big, strong, combat-oriented person when she wants to be. Taking after Dad and all.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Inspiration. Interesting."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "What parameters were you thinking of, exactly, Petra?"
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm thinking something like Utena's inspiration by Dios in the anime, except much klutzier when not inspired. And I would say, when it's plot-appropriate she might be able to use this capability. I didn't really have any specific conditions in mind, as the plot is largely a big unknown to me at this point other than being based on Utena. But, I'd give you latitude to figure out when she might be able to use this skill, and when she wouldn't."
[OOC] Petra says, "This wouldn't be her highest skill either -- that'll be a mental one. It'd be second-tier."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Incidentally, let's talk about how you want to handle dueling. Each character a duelist?"
[OOC] Yukina was planning on being a duelist, yes.
[OOC] Petra says, "The way I was thinking, Petra will only duel in special situations, but I'd like her to hold her own when she needs to. Thus, the Inspiration skill or what have you."
[OOC] Petra says, "It would only come into play if genuinely needed (as judged by the GM)."
[OOC] Petra says, "Otherwise, you'd have a veto over it."
[OOC] Petra says, "Well, you probably have a veto over anything, but this is a lot easier to justify."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "It sounds like Petra'll only duel if the stakes're high, then."
[OOC] Petra says, "That's basically what I was thinking."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Like if Yukina's somehow unable to duel."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "That's fine with me."
[OOC] Petra says, "This might change once the treatment takes its full effect."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Hm. I can't think of a word for her actual, trained martial art, if you want it to be more broad than "Kama". But it's her favourite weapon!"
[OOC] Wolfie says, ""Kama" should work, then."
[OOC] Yukina says, "That count for all three types? Small "traditional", medium "shortsword", and large "O-Kama"?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Sure."
[OOC] Petra says, "Now you're making me curious. What is a kama? I'm assuming a Mongolian weapon of some sort."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Japanese, actually. Small scythes usually used for cutting rice in paddies. But when wartime came and you needed to get the farmers in on the action, it was a convenient weapon. There's a portion of karate based entirely around it, and there's modifications on it in various sizes. Straight handle, usually a straight blade."
[OOC] Petra says, "Ah, I think I've seen pictures. I just was unaware of the name."
[OOC] Yukina says, "It's a kinda' slow weapon, but it's great for blocking and biding time until you can strike."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "In other words, strong on defense?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Yes."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay! Academics will pretty much be a general broad skill for "school stuff"."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Right. That goes near the bottom of my pyramid. Can I use "Stealing Things" as a skill?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Sure!"
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay, I have almost the whole pyramid drafted -- two spaces are open, but I'm sure I've missed something somewhere, so I'm listing what I have now and asking for suggestions."
[OOC] Yukina considers.
[OOC] Petra says, "Great: Academics"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Might even go with "Improper Behavior" as a general skill for doing things you shouldn't. ;)"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Ooo, I like that."
[OOC] Petra says, "Good: Inspired Attractive"
[OOC] Petra says, "Fair: Allowance Camaraderie Perception"
[OOC] Petra says, "Average: Empathy Agility X X"
[OOC] Petra says, "Actually, I might not take Attractive -- that would really be better as an Aspect as it's as likely to work against her as in her favor."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Alright, I think I've got mine. Though I'm not sure if they're.... Quite broad enough. As far as "juvie" goes."
[OOC] Petra says, "Not that I would want to replace an existing Aspect with it."
[OOC] Petra says, "Just thinking out loud."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Great: Horsemanship"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Good: Kama, Bigger And Stronger"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Bigger And Stronger is pretty much applicable only for feats of, er... Strength and intimidation. Period."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Gotcha."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Fair: Weapon of Opportunity, Improper Behaviour, Stealing Things"
[OOC] Yukina says, "The foremost entirely for Jackie Chan-esque "this ladder is now my melee weapon" tricks."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Average: Etiquette, Academics, Chemistry, Sewing"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I was actually thinking of having Improper Behavior cover the scope of Stealing Things."
[OOC] Yukina says, "I'd imagine it'd cover it less-broadly. I imagine that it'd be more applicable for getting away with such terrible antics."
[OOC] Petra says, "Etiquette, I should probably take that too."
[OOC] Petra says, "Hmm."
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm thinking I might add a Fencing skill, actually. Training my character had before the disease."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Forget Inspiration, then, if you're going to take it, and just take Fencing."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Inspiration can be a Stunt or something."
[OOC] Petra says, "Yeah, I was wondering about that. That works."
[OOC] Yukina needs her flunkies as a Stunt.
[OOC] Petra says, "I'll probably replace it with Resolve."
[OOC] Petra says, "So, lessee..."
[OOC] Petra says, "Great: Academics"
[OOC] Petra says, "Good: Allowance Resolve"
[OOC] Petra says, "Fair: Camaraderie Perception Piano"
[OOC] Petra says, "Average: Empathy Agility Fencing Etiquette"
[OOC] Petra says, "And you will both now perceive the character who served as a partial inspiration. Though I failed to work in a stopwatch anywhere."
[OOC] Yukina giggles.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Hee!"
[OOC] Petra says, "If she's ever in a fight, she'll be relying on the Aspects and stunts."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Yukina is all sorts of skilled. She'd be part of a Kendo club, if she liked long bladed items."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Allright! Sounds like we've got our skills set. Now for Stunts. Three of them. Not using standard Spirit of the Century ones. Stunts will more often than not be tied to Aspects rather than skills, though they can be used to augment skills in unusual ways."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Flunkies or the like is a valid Stunt, yeah."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Hmm. Define Stunts a little more clearly?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay, Stunts can be strange, even paranormal. Or they can be almost figurative, like always having the black horse at your beckon and calling."
[OOC] Petra says, "As discussed earlier, I'll probably be taking a Stunt to let Petra move without the constraints of her handicap, and with improved Fencing and Agility, when inspired."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay. And, this isn't just an Utena knock-off, this is also Over the Edge. Occult skills or knowledge are acceptable (though not necessarily in keeping with your characters)."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Hm. Black Horse would be good. Now, what kind of Stunt would be appropriate for having some knowledge of, and maybe decent relations with the old gods of Mongolia?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Ooo! What sorts of relations?"
[OOC] Petra says, "Probably my character isn't knowledgeable about the occult to start with. Though maybe some sort of 'guardian spirit/divine protection?' Something that mysteriously intervenes to keep her out of danger? Fill in the details as you wish!"
[OOC] Petra says, "So, that's two for me, unless you want to take the improved mobility and increased stats as separate things, in which case it's three."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "That's two."
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay. Good, that means I can still be creative."
[OOC] Yukina says, "An exchange of favours, more or less. I might convince Blue Sky Rolling Thunder to loan me their might and majesty, but I need to do something in return afterwards. Maybe convince Mother of Rainbows to make flowers bloom in exchange for caring for the greenhouse or somesuch. And half of the names would be fudged, just 'cause there's so goddamn many..."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "You'd likely be using your Etiquette to negotiate with them."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Makes sense to me."
[OOC] Petra thinks.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Your next tone doesn't have to be occult."
[OOC] Petra says, "I guess I'm somewhat uncertain what sort of things a stunt that's not occult would do. That, and I'm somewhat hopeful I can think of something somewhat on the surreal side."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Surreal is perfectly fine!"
[OOC] Petra says, "Hum, how's this? Petra usually dreams in black and white. When she dreams in color, it's always somehow significant to the plot, some sort of foreshadowing, though she may not realize it at the time."
[OOC] Petra says, "A clue, or even a communication from the unknown, as may have happened in her shared-dream with Yukina."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Very workable!"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "It sounds like we're all set up with our Stunts."
[OOC] Petra says, "Sounds like it. Do they need names, or should I just note down what they do?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Names'd be nice, but you can just note down what they do for the moment."
[OOC] Yukina labels her last one "I Ask The Gods" 'cause it sounds wankish.
[OOC] Wolfie grins.
[OOC] Yukina says, "Flunkies, Black Horse, I Ask The Gods."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Yukina's Aspects, from that log Petra gave me, are Oldest Child, Hearty, Large, Noble Upbringing, Rebel, Inner Strength, Vibrant, Capricious Horse."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "You can still change them."
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm thinking I'll take Awkward as Petra's fourth Aspect, instead of Devoted Student. It applies both physically and socially, but I'd like to define it so that it can't be invoked when her Inspired to Motion stunt is in use."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Hm. I think those work pretty well."
[OOC] Petra says, "That leaves me with Pampered Heir, Twin Sister, Paralytic Disease, Awkward, Rescued Alone, "I will do this for you," Stark, Seeking to Ride to Freedom."
[OOC] Petra says, "I realize I'm missing anything that actually HELPS social interaction, but I'm a bit uncertain where to put it."
[OOC] Yukina figures Rebel and Noble Upbringing will work against her a lot.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Hmm."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Let's not forget that you have a fifth Phase not yet taken."
[OOC] Petra says, "Right."
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay, so.. What is next on the agenda?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I'll have to think on that. You want to do anything tonight?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "I'm cool one way or the other, honestly. This past week has been kinda' rough, and I'd love some kinda' distraction. But I'm not choosy."
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm somewhat ambivalent. I'd be open to it if you guys wanted to run through some introductory scenes, but I'd likely prefer to do that when we have more time for going in-depth. As is, we only likely have time for half an episode, so to speak."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Mmm."
[OOC] Petra says, "That said, next week we'll be doing the fifth phases, so it won't be a full session then either. Maybe we should start now."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay, how about some initial meetings?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Remember that prank I mentioned, Wolfie?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Yes. :)"
[OOC] Yukina says, "That would probably be a great way to introduce the characters. *Grin.*"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Do it!"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Where does Petra take her lunches?"
[OOC] Petra says, "Hmm. I'm a bit uncertain what the academy is like. Due to her circumstances she would probably eat in a cafeteria, though, if one is available."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Oh, hell, I realized I really need to describe the academy."
[OOC] Petra says, "Sounds like a plan."
The Academy lies a couple of miles by bird's flight from the main city of Edge, overlooking the sea atop its cliff. The school itself sprawls with arching and grandiose openness everywhere, the whole impression capped by the rather odd Dormitory Tower.
Yukina strolls through the school with her "posse", three hefty boys from some sports team or another. She never bothered asking. Spotting someone in a wheelchair, she blinks, and smiles wickedly. Rushing over close, she speaks with an upbeat tone, intercepting her before she can get wherever she intends with a cheerful, "Hey! You new here?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I'm typing up the description for the Dormitory Tower, by the way. ;)"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Blarg. That's enough for the prank already, and you know it."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Yeah."
Petra is making her way through the campus on her motorized wheelchair. She stares at Yukina somewhat oddly, like she's having trouble focusing. She slows down, looking a bit perturbed, and says, "New here... I suppose I am."
Yukina grins. She beckons cheerfully. "We got assigned to help a new student find their way around here. You know, a kind of detention. Oh, no, don't worry, we accidentally broke a minor rule, which is why we're not in any detention hall, isn't that right boys?"
Petra is uneasy. Looking at Yukina, she speeds up the wheelchair a bit, but the motor simply isn't made for going too incredibly fast. Certainly not faster than Yukina and her companions can run. And, in any case, she isn't going at the top speed yet.
Petra asks Yukina, "So you've been assigned to help a student... If it's me, they would have told you my name."
Yukina walks backwards, trying to keep up without losing eye contact, offering a more helpless smile. "Alright, alright, I give. I thought you looked familiar, and I was afraid of coming across too strongly. If you walk with me for a bit, I'll buy you lunch."
Petra stops. Swiveling the wheelchair around, she looks Yukina in the eye. There is no sign in her eyes that she truly recognizes her, but she appears to be trying to place her, as if the other girl reminds her of someone she just can't identify. Finally, she assents. "If you don't mind my rolling instead of walking, I certainly wouldn't turn down your kindness."
[OOC] Petra says, "Would you mind if I rolled Empathy to try and assess Yukina's motives?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Go right ahead."
Petra rolled at Average for a result of: [ ] [ ] [-] [-] Poor.
[OOC] Petra says, "I have no fricking clue."
[OOC] Yukina says, "MuaHa."
Yukina grins. "I need to pick up a bit of work. Biology. I was sick yesterday, terrible cold." She beckons. "It's not too far from a great place to eat, too. There's this nice, shady tree just a little way away from it."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "If at any time you need me to describe the dorm tower, tell me. ;) The other buildings, you can mostly make up your own details for."
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay!"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Not for this, I don't think."
Petra navigates the chair along beside Yukina, trying to take all this in. "I'm a bit uncertain... Where would we get lunch from, in this academy?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Normal boarding schools have a kitchen, typically. For those who, like Yukina, aren't particularly inclined to prepare anything edible in any meaningful way."
[OOC] Petra says, "Yeah, I figured. Mostly asking directions."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Just clarifying."
Yukina nods. "Not too far past the science hall. Big, empty room. Most people prefer to eat outside when the weather is good. They make good bread."
Petra nods quietly, taking in the conversation and the surroundings. Something about her manner is off from what one would expect, even from a handicapped girl -- something's odd about her body positioning and movement.
[OOC] Petra says, "If Yukina would remark on this, feel free to roll whatever skill mmight apply to try and figure out a clue."
[OOC] Yukina says, "She doesn't seem to have a skill for it. Nor is she likely to comment."
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay, that's all the hint you're getting for the moment, then. ;)"
Yukina chatters pleasantly as she walks, making comments about everything and nothing. "Ah, here's the classroom. Shinta! Keiichi! Jubei! Don't break anything!" She darts into the classroom without knocking, silently praying that nobody's in it.
Yukina's lackeys are very good at not breaking anything. They spend a lot of time clearing their throats and staring at the ceiling. Yukina pokes her head out of the classroom, glances in both directions, and makes sure the coast is clear. Then, she drags out the classroom skeleton, complete with its rolling rack. She positions her lackeys to hide it from common view. "Right, we'll pick up something to eat, and then make our way to the tree."
Petra stares at the skeleton in disbelief. "That's... your project?" She looks rather uncertain if she should be sticking around, though not yet ready to bolt.
[OOC] Petra says, "Or wait... Were you hiding it from Petra too? I was unclear, if you were."
[OOC] Yukina says, "No, Petra is going to be able to see it."
[OOC] Petra says, "Okay. Continue on!"
Yukina nods cheerfully. "Yes! I have to finish a report, you see. And since there's no class in there right now, and nobody's using it..." It is, of course, a perfectly logical answer, and she trails off just where a person can imply whatever makes most sense to them. "I just don't want any of the students reporting me for wrong-doing. Which is why Shinta, Keiichi, and Jubei are helping me out."
Petra seems nervous, though not so much because she doubts Yukina's story as that she doubts this is really a good idea regardless... "And where are you going to take it?"
Yukina grins broadly. "To that tree I mentioned! It's a nice, quiet place, away from other people. And the tree really is beautiful. It blossoms, but I don't know what kind of tree it is. I'm not very good at botany."
Petra says, "Okay... Maybe you should point me in the direction of the cafeteria, and I can meet you there after I get food?"
Yukina nods, and points. "There's the tree. The kitchen is right down this hallway, turn left there. You'll smell it before you see it. If you grab a melon bread for me, I'll pay you back."
Petra nods and starts down the hallway, still a little shaken.
Yukina walks casually to the tree, already taking the prepared garments from her backpack. She /does/ have a report to finish, but it won't take long. It might even be done before Petra gets back.
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm guessing that the kitchen actually is where you said it was?"
[OOC] Yukina says, "Of course it is."
[OOC] Petra says, "Just wanted to make sure. I'm unsure at this stage how much of what Yukina's said is a trick -- but I'm curious how this will develop."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Quite alright. Yes, it's right there."
Petra enters the line for the kitchen, and comes back several minutes later with a chicken salad for herself, and a melon bread for Yukina.
[OOC] Petra says, "I'm assuming this is trivial enough I shouldn't need to roll to afford it."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Don't bother, yeah."
Petra rolls the wheelchair over to the tree -- which is a nice tree, and one can see the ocean off in the distance. It's a soothing scene, actually, which calms her down a bit.
Yukina is sitting under the big, leafy tree, nibbling on a peach. She is minus Shinta, and minus a skeleton. The other two boys are eating their own meals without concern. They've packed something a bit more substantial.
Yukina waves cheerfully from her spot in the grass. "By the way, my name's Yukina."
Petra parks her wheelchair slantwise from Yukina, giving her a good view of the tree and the scene behind. She holds a blue plastic tray against the two arms of the chair with her left hand and right arm, her right hand being used for working the controls of the wheelchair.
Petra reaches atop the tray and hands the melon bread to Yukina. "I'm..." She looks dizzy for a second, then rights herself. "Petra Lambert."
It's if Petra looks up that she'll see what Yukina is very carefully not looking at. Shinta tries to make his way down subtly. Yukina attempts to keep Petra's attention with conversation. "Ah, you should eat. You've got the dizzy look of someone who doesn't get enough sugar." She offers an unbitten, bright pink peach. "Here. I keep a lot of these around. They're my favorite."
Petra rolled at Fair for a result of: [-] [+] [ ] [-] Average.
[OOC] Petra says, "Roll is more for my own guidance, and I'm guessing that's not good enough to spot him."
[OOC] Yukina says, "I'll ask for Wolfie's judgement on that, or what I should roll at least."
[OOC] Petra says, "I rolled Perception, to be clear."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay, just how many Flunkies do you have, Yukina?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I need that to determine how good they can be."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Three."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Okay, they're of Good quality in their primary field of expertise."
[OOC] Yukina says, "I'll label them each now. Shinta is good at not being seen, Jubei is good at strength-related things, and Keiichi is fast. Which is what I was planning, so."
> Yukina rolled at Good for a result of: [ ] [+] [-] [-] Fair.
[OOC] Petra says, "Hmm, just to make this interesting..."
[OOC] Petra says, "Might I be able to reroll with my Stark aspect? Since noticing what Shinta is doing and pointing it out, would likely make Petra stick out like a sore thumb to some extent."
[OOC] Petra says, "Seems to fit thematically for me, even if intellectually I'm not really sure I have a handle on the Aspect yet."
Petra accepts the peach with an uncertain smile. She's losing her nervousness, but still somewhat nervous. Taking a bite of peach, she alternates it with bites of chicken salad.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "I recommend you go for the +2 bonus."
[OOC] Petra says, "That'll be a tie, though. Is a tie sufficient?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "It'll win by one."
[OOC] Petra says, "Or, wait. It would beat it by one. My bad."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Oh dear. *Laughs.*"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Narrate how this makes you look stark, then. ^.~"
Yukina has decent taste in peaches. It's just firm enough to not squish, and quite sweet.
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Unless you want to block that, Yukina. It'd be more fun if you didn't, though. ^.~"
[OOC] Petra says, "Give me a Fate Point or five, and I will."
[OOC] Yukina says, "Go right ahead. This will be hilarious."
> Wolfie has just reset everyone's Fate points to 8.
Petra glances up from a bite of chicken salad, focusing on the tree. Furrowing her forehead, she blinks, repeatedly. Then, in a serious voice, she speaks. "Miss Yukina, why is your friend in the tree? He looks quite... Odd? And whatever happened to the skeleton model, anyway?"
[OOC] Petra says, "That work, or is it insufficient for the Aspect? Still trying to get a fix on it..."
Petra used Stark to add +2 for a result of: Terrible -1
You now have 7 Fate points.
[OOC] Petra says, "Somehow I suspect that's bugged."
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Yes, it is. Sheesh!"
Shinta, climbing down from the tree, blanches a little. Yukina looks unconcerned. Matter of fact, so does the skeleton lounging in the tree, wearing a boy's uniform. "Oh. I finished the report, so we thought we'd let him take a break."
Petra seems to notice the skeleton for the first time. "Interesting way to put it..."
Yukina grins. "Doesn't he look relaxed?"
A clattering of voices starts to come down the path past the tree.
Petra looks like she is uncertain if she should be here.
Yukina acts as if nothing were amiss. She sips at a bottle of iced tea and starts in on the melon bread. "Mmm. Their curry bread is pretty good, too."
Petra just stares at the sleleton in the tree.
Yukina looks up at Petra, and waves. "Hey, you alright there?"
Petra blinks, looking down at Yukina. "Yes, I'm fine. I just... Well... You said you didn't want people to see it..."
Yukina says, "Then don't look at it."
Petra snorts, glares at Yukina a little, and starts back in on the chicken salad.
The footsteps form into a young lady of elegant face and clothing. Her features are ambiguous of origin, almost Egyptian but with a smudging of ethnicities that render that questionable. Her uniform is more ornate and strikingly red than the standard issue, and she bears it with an aristocratic air.
Yukina looks at the newcomer with a broad smile. She does /not/ look into the tree. "Hi, there."
Behind her, her followers are talking amongst themselves in a rapid cloud of sound.
Petra turns her body (the wheelchair being parked) to look at the young lady and anyone else coming up the path.
Yukina runs a hand through her short blue hair, and doesn't bother standing. "Can I help you with anything?"
While the others might not look up... One of the tag-alongs does so and shrieks loudly.
Yukina doesn't laugh. No, no she doesn't. She forces herself to look shocked, jolt, and look up herself. "My gods, what the--?"
Petra does her best to look confused. Not really very hard, what with all the shrieking and noise.
[OOC] Yukina says, "I'm being begged for the computer. Any way we can hustle this a little?"
[OOC] Wolfie says, "Sure!"
The young lady leading the retinue says, "I was just walking along to my lunch." Her eyes flicker up, and she remarks dryly, "That is one athletic skeleton."
Yukina considers that. "I don't know. The way he's laying there, he looks quite relaxed."
"He must have worn himself out with that feat. I don't suppose you would have anything to do with this?" Now the lady's eyes drop back down to Yukina.
Yukina shrugs broadly. "I didn't even notice him until you pointed him out." She has either rehearsed this very, very well, or she is completely insane.
Petra looks somewhat flabbergasted at the situation.
Hmmphing, the lady says, "You are... Yukina, no? What must your parents think of your exhausting our revered ancestors by forcing them to climb trees?"
Yukina glances up at the skeleton, raising an eyebrow. "Well, my father would probably laugh. My mother... She's more likely to be ashamed." She nods matter-of-factly.
The lady's eyes flash darkly. "You can talk of shaming your mother with such a face? I had vaguely heard of you, and this only confirms some of the worse of what I had heard. No respect for family!" She points a finger at Yukina and decrees, "Get him down from the tree. I will meet you tomorrow's evening, just after school, at the base of the Dormitory. If you do not come, I will hunt you down."
Yukina glances over her shoulder. "Shinta, you wouldn't make a girl stand, would you? Please, be so kind as to end our friend's break and show him back to work." She nods. "And I will meet you there, Naomi."
"Well, then." Suddenly a smile lights up the side of Naomi's face, slightly. "Looking forward to seeing you. But I have other things to do." With that, she sweeps off. Her retinue doesn't quite succeed in matching her displayed aplomb, as you can spot a few of them trying to stare at the skeleton without being seen.
Yukina sighs, staring at her now-finished bread and peaches. "I suppose it's time to get to class. Will I be seeing you again?"
Petra says, "I imagine we'll be seeing each other around the Academy." Petra is still mostly trying to decide if she approves of Yukina or not, judging by her face."
Yukina stands, and extends a hand with a broad smile. "Please, consider me a friend. If you ever need anything, call me."
Petra takes Yukina's hand, a sense of deja vu running through her mind.
Yukina shakes the hand cheerfully, gently, but with a firm grip. "C'mon, boys. Shinta can catch up with us in class. We're going to be late!" And off she runs, heels clicking on stone.
Petra says, "Thank you...""
[OOC] Yukina says, "And now, I must be going."
Petra unparks her wheelchair and heads to her next class, thoughts running through her mind.
