Valor Radiance. An energy discovered mere decades ago that renders the very laws of reality malleable, it has made venturing into the heavens possible. Even the hostile, alien expanse of space is rendered livable by the Stability Beacons, leading to a rapidly expanding sprawl of colonies, some floating in space itself and some living on planets. An age of opportunity! Or so says the proclamations of the assorted news reports and memes and opinion pieces sponsored by the Celestial Council, the government body operated by an alliance of powerful corporations.

In reality, it is the wealthy who lives on the planets housing the Stability Beacons. The less well-off you are, the further from said planets you dwell, in loosely floating clusters of buildings or on less desirable planets. Some even never experience the feeling of gravity in their lives. And rather than realizing the full potential of Valor Radiance, the Stability Beacons enforce the old laws of scarcity and limits.

Much alarm and clamor is raised by the official media about the dangers posed by various 'pirate' colonies living beyond the reach of the Stability Beacons, as well as those who perform the illegal practice of overdriving their Valor Engines, creating results beyond what is allowed. Yet nothing comes of it besides an endless series of wars against less cooperative colonies and an endless legal crusade against those who overdrive without carefully controlled government approval.

You are outlaws, not because you desire to be but because you must. For the majority of you, there's no other way for you to meet your company-mandated quotas than to use the illegal practice of overdriving as you work on building up a newly established colony. Maybe you're a builder throwing up building after building, maybe you're an miner extracting minerals to meet endless demand, maybe you're an artist churning out large-scale corporate art and structure. The common element is that all of you work in professions utilizing mecha.

And one of you is an outsider. Someone from the reaches where only 'pirates' live, whose arrival sparks a dramatic series of events.

Break the Heavens is a Valor Alter mecha campaign borrowing elements such as a bit of the metaphorical weirdness of Heaven Will Be Mine, the queerness of Heaven Will Be Mine and Diebuster, the over-the-topness of Gurren Lagaan and Diebuster, and just a little of the insanity of Getter Robo.
